Random Poem:

When you're gone
I rattle around this empty house
like a pebble in a gourd.
Bouncing aimlessly from room to room,
adjusting curtains, straightening pillows,
feeling like I've misplaced something important.
When you're gone
your absence opens a gaping hole
in the center of my tidy living room
that I cannot avoid.
I tip-toe tentatively around it,
skirt its edges carefully,
but the floor gives way beneath my feet
and I slide down to the bottom.
When you're gone
I love you more
and like myself less,
and curse myself silently
(my voice aloud in this void would certainly be deafening)
for my helpless need
to see your face.
