Random Poem:

Last Time Until the Next Time

The morning before us
Last night certainly behind
Each step taken begrudingly
No amount of nothing
will make today
and tomorrow
or tomorrow's tomorrow
We've trudged far enough.
We kiss and hold our faces close
A few words,
but we are both busy fight off tears.
We part like a wave
leaves a beach.
Each drop grazes each grain
until the water collects among itself
and the sand breathes air and sun.
Turbid seas                        Soaked sand
down a pier                        Up a gangway
Hide the tears                     two salutes
Because I know he's gone.   I'm sealed on this ship.
I dodge cranes and traffic  Shit--there's my first class
and garbage trucks            Already with the tasks
Where is he?                      Got to work far enough aft
All I want is one more       Just let me wave goodbye
So long from the last time to the next time
Finally!--                              A lull in the action
My husband appears!           Where is she?
I wave                                There! I blow a kiss
Turn my back and disappear   Down falls a single tear
Sailors and their wives
A perfect marriage
Depicting happy lives
Vows of wedlock
withstand liberty ports,
deployments, and
divorce courts.
