Random Poem:

Not What I Wanted to Say at All...

Trying to coax a few words
To take the monumental journey
From my mind to the page
I want to be so original, so creative…
A thousand thoughts
Gush through the center of my brain
Fill me with biochemical responses
To an awful situation.
Anger, belligerence and irritation
Inevitably give way once again
To empty self-pity
Tinged yellow with guilt
I want to write this all down
I want to pour it all out.
Purge myself of these emotions.
Find company for my misery.
Create an outline of my feelings
A great piece with eloquent passages
Similes and alliteration
Around a spine of truth.
I want my fingers to race to keep up
With this picture in my head
Of what it all means
Presented in brief seconds of clarity
If I could just capture it,
Hold it at arm’s length
Analyze it for what it is:
Nothing more, nothing less.
Give it familiar form and logical presence,
Turn this horrid act of humanity
Into a work of art, a thing of beauty,
Despite a vile and vicious surface.
But my own words
Do not flow easily tonight,
Instead an unoriginal phrase,
“Ignorance is Bliss.”
Taunted by this whisper
All I can do is sigh
And accept a fate
Of acquired knowledge
What a comfort
To be unaware
A luxury I have not
Been afforded.
“Blessed” with intellect,
That permits this pain,
Forced to deal without
The aid of pretty words.
No one who reads,
Could ever understand.
Ignorance is Bliss,
I must suffer alone.
