Psychic Crimes
UHamilton

Psychic Crimes
 1

By Uriah Lee Hamilton
 2

Too terribly alone
 3
In this friendless place,
 4
I wish we could meet
 5
In the city rain
 6
By the bakery
 7
And the bus stop;
 8
Without  you,
 9
I feel depressed
 10
And insane.
 11

It seems crazy,
 12
But the last time
 13
I saw you,
 14
I swear, there were
 15
Crushed roses
 16
In the sunset.
 17

I stood
 18
In the lakeside breeze
 19
Following fondly
 20
How the wind
 21
Would kiss and tease
 22
Your brown hair;
 23

And I remember
 24
All the time we spent
 25
In that lost dandelion summer
 26
Of innocence,
 27
We were falling in love
 28
In the simplicity of youth.
 29

In time,
 30
Adulthood and failures,
 31
Unkind words,
 32
And spiritual adulteries,
 33
Psychic crimes
 34
Like tattoos
 35
Impossible to remove.
 36

In muted despair,
 37
I silently search
 38
For prayers
 39
To reconnect my dreams
 40
To my reality,
 41

But there is only
 42
This insufferable agony
 43
Of not being the one
 44
To make you smile
 45
Or place a flower
 46
In your heart…
 47

Forever a lifetime
 48
Of watching you walk away.
