Random Poem:

Cognitive strategy
unknown

Think of something pleasant like ice cream when he speaks,
 1
confection melting and dripping down the cone,
 2
all green and sugary. His words feel like fisted razors
 3
that cut at the floor between you
 4
until something monstrous crawled out and up -
 5
until then, you saw flowered linoleum.
 6
Silverfish flash in his beard,
 7
and shaving won’t get rid of them.
 8
But this is only a firm memory of words,
 9
and no match for mint chip.
