Random Poem:

Because He Had To Go Away

One night in dreams I saw my dad
standing in a golden field of hay
I walked up to him; he looked so sad
he said he was sorry he had to go away
He said he wished that he'd been there
when I spoke my first word
He said he wished he'd been able to share
kindergarten, first grade, second, and third
He'll never walk me down the aisle
or see me in graduation day.
He'll never see my firstborn's smile
because he had to go away.
Someday when I'm old and gray
I'll look back and I'll see
all the times along the way
I'd wished my dad was here with me.
Somewhere, someway I will depart
from this barren mortal land
And I'll at last fulfill the desire of my heart
as I hold my father's hand.
He'll never know how much I could have loved him
He'll never hear what I have to say.
He'll never know how close we could have been
because he had to go away.
