Long Island Sound

The power
and pain
of a word, comes not from being heard
but being felt
Good-bye, I love you, I miss you
have no effect on a sterling mind
a heart of stone
or when poured
from a forked tongue
once kind
They are easy to say
when there's no emotion
behind them
I love you
I miss you.
I don't mean to say that you lied
there's only one of us
who remembers the sound by moonlites
who remembers the chaos by daylight
who remembers not to speak
unless the heart first gives leave.
