Random Poem:

i want to take
a polaroid of how i feel
right this moment.
how intrinsically fragile.
like a banked fire.
no trolls to sit
and flame it up again.
my skin feels so cold.
frigid, as ever, like
china, like metal
like plastic...i'm not real.
i'm never real.
i'm a violin case built to
hold betrayal,
and ice, and feathers.
never the sun.
and they invented quilts
just so maybe i could get
some rest,
here in this old shell,
a cracked whistle.
more of a burble really.
my head -- or
that thing masquerading
as it --
aches at the temple;
my fingers of their own
volition finger the wound,
though not as laughingly
as you might think,
just a failure in balance.
another fifty quid i lost
to gravity while gambling
with myself on the
bathroom counter.
validity fades.
easier to hold onto the
nicks in the shell
than admit there's nothing
left inside, right?
i don't know.
i don't even know myself.
