Sydna’s Poem
Bethl

The room is still
 1
but you know she’s there
 2
spreading out nights
 3
you can barely leave
 4
carrying the dawn
 5
on strings of gold
 6

She wears her beauty
 7
in winter’s blush
 8
beneath the hush
 9
of sudden snow
 10
with eyes like ivory
 11
leading you through
 12
morning’s stiff chill
 13

And in the blue of summer
 14
when all the crows of
 15
August have died
 16
her arms outstretch
 17
like open wings
 18
high above the ocean blooms
 19
the streaming tides
 20
the moonspun caves
 21
turning air into water
 22
and water to light
 23
under the ridge
 24
of incalculable stars.
