Random Poem:

Anticipated Retrospect on "Off the Wagon"
Cella

I like to imagine
 1
someday
 2
we are sitting in that same
 3
coffee shop.
 4
booth number thirteen.
 5

like two civilized adults
 6
sipping our coffee
 7
yours black
 8
mine with one sugar
 9
one cream.
 10

and we are conversing
 11
with the
 12
indisguisable air
 13
of two people
 14
who were once in love
 15

with eachother
 16
but we are a few
 17
"somedays" older
 18
and wiser
 19
than the kids I once wrote of
 20

and now we just bear
 21
a few faint scars
 22
and laugh in retrospect
 23
at how much it hurt
 24
at the time
 25

as you wipe the coffee
 26
ring off the table
 27
so as to not stain
 28
the cover of my latest
 29
book of rhyme
 30

you slide you finger
 31
between the copyright
 32
and title pages
 33
to hold your place
 34
as if it would be hard to find
 35

then you smile
 36
just barely and blush
 37
just slightly which is
 38
the only way I can
 39
read your mind
 40

"Did you ever write
 41
a poem about me?"
 42
"Just one, but it was on
 43
the top ten list
 44
for six months straight."
 45

before you can
 46
ask if I'd let you
 47
someday read it
 48
I tell you
 49
"Sorry. You're a few
 50
somedays late."
