Happy May Day  Isabelle5  1 May 08 12:25PM Thread Closed

Does anyone still leave gifts of flowers on neighbors porches, secretly?  I love that old custom.  I don't do it, though.

mayday was borrowed by the socialists because they could -- it was the last remaining pagan holiday -- a holiday not co-opted and sanitized by the church. mayday is a very old celebration -- far older than lenin's beard.

Mayday was practiced long before Communism raised its head, Joey.  It goes back to the time of Druids, maybe even earlier.

But today is another holiday so let's all cheer for Cinco de Mayo!

Always a reason to celebrate, right?

Oh, yes, it's quite an amazing world we live in, isn't it?  There is a line in there someplace, that says, "We do not live under the sky, we live in it."

I'm so glad that someone else can understand my excitement!
