Girl Shy, 1924

introduction quoted from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0014945/ :
Harold Meadows (Lloyd) is a shy, stuttering bachelor working in a tailor shop, who is writing a guide book for other bashful young men, "The Secret of Making Love," chapters from which are portrayed as fantasy sequences. Fate has him meet rich girl, Mary (Ralston), and they fall in love. But she is about to wed an already married man, so our hero embarks upon a hair-raising daredevil ride to prevent the wedding.

from the opening of part two of the links above,

It is very easy to win the heart of any woman,

providing you know the correct method to use.

I have therefore written this story of my

love affairs -- that you may learn about women

from me.

I was feeling pretty low a little while ago.
Then I found Cabaret (1972) an hour ago.
Let's watch it together and be friends.

It should play one segment after another automatically.
Best and beautiful in full screen (click the lower right corner).

So good to be alive.

Not a movie, but better, perhaps, these pictures with verse

It is 1941 America.  Pearl Harbor waits still for December.   Far away

eight men of Manhattan work in an enclave,
compiling, writing, an encyclopedia.

In walks a garbageman and nine years of work
for one of them becomes obsolete, just like that.

the dynamics of slang, reet.

Poetry played a part in Suddenly, Last Summer.

Trivia:  My mate, Ernie, knew Tennessee Williams well; a neighbor of his here in the Grove in the 'sixties.
Tennessee once brought along a house guest to one of Ernie and Barry's cocktail parties.   "A friend from out of town, you're sure you won't mind?"  Gore Vidal.

And coincidence is that the author of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf,
Edward Albee, keeps a house here in the Grove just around the corner from ours;
but I don't know him, and wouldn't, even if I saw him...would you, in Coconut Grove?
