wow, a very kind and nice best friend you are.

there's this video about Nirvana switching places on the instruments --
Kurt played drums, Krist/Chris played rhythm guitar, and Dave played
bass on their garage version of Seasons In the Sun. these guys are/were
crazy and had a lot of fun together on and off cam, i'm sure. Dave had
consistently been a drummer prior to his inception in Nirvana and i think
that's where he really bloomed as the power-drummer of the power trio.

Foo Fighters is, of course, a different dimension where a different Dave
plays Gawd in a world which he himself creates, a sort of well-deserved
blessing in  disguise he had to have unexpectedly.

i just hope he doesn't kill himself with a monkey wrench when he
reaches 27, er 72, years.
: )

Hehehe...I think Dave has too much going for him. After the Foo concert, everyone was half in love with Dave, I think. Did you know that he did all the instruments for the Foo's first album himself? I watched a Max music sessions thing with him once, he seemed so intense and everything, and then you go and watch the video clip for "Learn to Fly" LOL!

On a side note, isn't "Everlong" one of the best video clips ever made?

I saw a really hot band a couple of weeks ago called Vox Population and they really blew me away. Keep an eye out for them.

a good local show will rock you harder, in terms of energy, and fun, then any big venue.  They usually have nothing to lose, and more to gain, and they have no problem conversing with the crowd, or calling out hecklers.

But if you want your life changed, see Tool live.

"But if you want your life changed, see Tool live."

It was changing already, but in the last 7 years I saw A Perfect Circle live first, then TOOL, then Rage Against The Machine (that was gooooooood).  I'll mention John Butler and Bjork because they were captivating in their own way.

But I think you are right.  If you're on a path toward being your own Witness, TOOL generates magic, and a soundtrack to both the screaming ego, and rising consciousness.  Maynard's lyrics are truly divine, and Bill Hicks is one of my Messiahs.

Cheers, CW

Cervus, you should check out a band called Loquat. I think they're local out of San Francisco, but I know you can find them online.  Their guitar compositions remind me of some of the more mellow APC tracks, and the lead singer has a beautiful soprano going on. If you dig bjork, you'll like Loquat.

I think Nirvana is over rated.

There, I said it. :P

As do I.

I recommend Pink Floyd's Pulse...and the Wall...and Live at Pompei.
