love it? hate it? indifferent?
and by the way, 1 is BAD, 10 is GOOD. Some of ya'll haven't seemed to have figured that out yet?
Me? i hate it. It serves no useful purpose.
i like the idea of recent best, but that could be accomplished by number of favorites, of course nisetru would have to show more restraint.

The rating system on PC has always been open to manipulation.
In order to become a top rated poet that is if you feel it necessary to be a top rated poet.
You merely need to register several names on PC from different computers and award yourself plenty of ten’s (Mongrol style.)
A slightly more subtle way involving a bit more work is to give out tens to nearly every posted work and mark their work as favourites (Fractal style,) making sure that the author is aware of your generosity, the grateful recipient then returns the favour keeping your work hopefully in the top rated..

The very tone of the comment above mine is why the rating system does not work. Games are played, nothing is real. Here now, gone now.
Nothing really works but complete comments that contain the who, what, where, when, how and whys of why it's good or why it's not. Those are few and far between because they take long and you have to know what you're talking about.
Subjectivity rules the day, which is usually true about any kind of reading outside of non-fiction, seems to me.
