now, tell me again why a poet posting a reading of one of his difficult works -- one which very few people here are able to read as text but which is very well received in public readings -- and tell me again about vanity and why i'd risk showing you this picture of a sick old man with cancer, reading a poem about a young man he fell in love with and who couldn't convince the young man that i loved him for his spirit and not his body -- 'i don't know it' -- and who, me, was made to feel ashamed of loving him at all -- and reading this thing -- this very revealing thing ( a friend of mine produced baldwin's reading from giovanni's room, and he told me that it was very painful, too, for baldwin to speak out what he'd written out so strongly ) and, then, too, i'm showing you all this, sharing it with you, because someone challenged me to answer netsky's posted reading. and, now, here's this person, this unknown, squeeking about my posting as though this were american idol and i was showing off, and i'd say to you, if you're such an honorable person, why the fuck didn't you help me to become a poet instead of laughing at my pretension. it makes you seem so very evil. what do you want, here, spawn of robert bly?

I'm real sorry to hear of your medical problems, joey, but you really should have clicked on the link before spouting off.

thanks, but i don't unless there's a need to, and i just don't feel compelled to with unknowns. often they're links to some film like mrs. miniver, a special kind of film -- soap opera before t.v. -- and i'd rather watch a witty pre-soap like booth's 'the women' -- do you know it?? cukor directed and it's got a collection of actors which defines the problem 'actor' and still entertains.

tell me about the link in real-word -- your understanding of what it meant and why you wanted to post it. that's a writing thing and we're sort of all writers here.

joey has cancer.
I have lupus, a terminal condition.

huzzah, huzzah! may it be a race to the finish which I should win!
after all, on bad days like this one was, all I wish for is freedom from phooey.

Unclear, sorry.  I meant to finish with his screen name, which is a synonym for hooey.

well, i looked at the thread, because it meant something to you and i felt it wasn't going to be a gross-out image, which unknown posts for effect, and you're unknown and you're inarticulate in writing still, not strong enough to do more than little irony -- you know, the thing in proust where m's two aunts are praising swann for his small gift, but in an oblique manner? and, really, doris deserves better, which is why i wanted people to see her. and you've not posted anything about what you thought of that piece, and i had pointedly mentioned that i didn't think it was her best -- even her best comic work. but, she and i are friends and she likes my poetry very much, and i like her absolute form and balance -- she writes sonnets which make me believe in 'sonnet' -- words within a weaving frame -- i wonder if you can understand that image? and the poem she's reading isn't a sonnet or anything really. she's a fine person.

travesty. ungracious response above by joey Michael Bauer, to the most simple, direct, honest, pure sort of observation.
Aand so joey adds more joey snot: enough to figuratively smother The Blob, you'd think.

But joey IS The Blob.  So it goes and goes and goes, the verbal tumor impossibility in the flesh; that parasite of peace.
