Generalisations much people? Are we in the fifth grade?
Come on. We all know sweeping generalisations are going to be false.
I'm certain there are horrible gay and straight poets, and also great ones in each group.
Sexuality does not a good poet make.

Good. So you are happy, and perhaps this gaybo can hope to see you on a street corner, thumbing for the ride of your life.
It's all good. I suspicion that the majority of great poets are straight people,
because feelings know no particular orientation of any compass.

whenever the hand wringing about canada's "poor" showing in all things world-stage comes about, i'm always quick to point out that "hey! we can't compete with the usa at the olympics, they are 10 times the population we are."
so, i'm sure it goes with all things "gay".

I object. There are plenty of GREAT hetero poets too. One's sexual orientation/preference may weigh into the equation, but artistically, we're all as good as each other. Experience is what dictates art; perception too. Gay, straight, whatever...it holds no water really in my opinion. But that's just me. It has more to do with where one's heart is and what that particular heart feels and is compelled to put to paper/computer screen. I think I'm a far better dresser than I am a writer, but my writing has merit too; just not as much as the man I am. Save the labels for Campbell's soup; maybe the assholes who like to hate on others, but not for poets. We're all different in our own rights. :-) - Starr p.s. I forgot to sign in, but will brb to sign this post.

Easy for you to smirk. Being a faggot
only relieves you of one more onus,
and myself, being far away and too old, represents
another.

I have no opinion on such a dumb assertion. Poets are better than the population at large and woman and gay men make better poetry crits. It's their bitchiness I think.
