where's the critical?  joey  25 Sep 08 9:15AM Thread Closed

well, now that poetry critical's been bought-out by general motors where's the edge that it had in the golden days? when people would analyze poems instead graphic novels and clips from 'i love lucy'? do i care if so and so's buick was once ridden in by milton berle?

Where's the "critical"?

Let's WordPlay?

invert the word "critical", in variable ways,  and add whimsy:

lac(k) I it  cr(y)

not to de-track from your thread, but only as an aside for younger people, to understand the reference:

"do i care if so and so's buick was once ridden in by milton berle?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6WQKHJ5Cqo
from the days of live TV, always sponsored by, here, Buick, and the commercial
is built into the comedy show.  TV in America was always free (no license to own a tv, as in the UK).
Commercial TV paid its own way in this country.  All you needed was a set, and you were set.

now back to joey's thread's intent:

Joey, let's save time.  We all know that no matter what we say, you will give the 'real' answer so why not just tell us what our opinion should be?

I don't know what golden age you're talking about, though, there have always been problem children here along with a lack of concensus on what constitutes a valid critique.

If you think that will ever change, given the creative and fluctuating nature of a public poetry site, well, sweet dreams, we'll plump your pillow for you now and then.

ah, Joey, that made no sense at all, even for you.  Sounds like a 3rd grader with an I'm rubber, you're glue response.

I've been here since September 2003.  There was in-fighting even then.  Does anyone know when this site started originally?

it's a joke, isabelle. it occured to me to add: "laugh-track under" but i thought it was obvious.

so, what's new in 'cosmetic re-writes, repair and rentals'?
