Meeting in Dreams  OKcomputer  28 Sep 08 9:53AM Thread Closed

I invite anyone to meet me in our separate sleeps. Come knock on the door at the back of the front of my brain.

(Prefrontal cortex is where I live. Some people live in the parietal lobes and some people live in the temporal and some people live scrambling around in the frontal without ever thinking to enter the cortex, and some people use the cortex occasionally, but I spent all my time in the cortex, pulling strings, particularly in that little room where you can invite strangers in, and perhaps that's ignorant because it gets you fired from five jobs but man I don't feel like myself in those darker areas. Never been one for math or reason, only reason enough to make a coherent sentence, and hardly.)

I won't be sleeping until 12 hours from now.

Particularly if you are experienced in lucid dreaming, come show me.

One time I harnessed Sponge Bob, and rode him hard, until I'd wrung him dry,
and put him away wet.  That's not good for horses, but for sponges; well, they seem not to mind.

Sponge Bob is NOT gay.  He only experiments with whinnies.

this is too abstract... you're dicking with concepts just because it's possible to say two concepts in a phrase. they don't automatically mean anything. looking at cocteau's use of dream, and comparing it with yours, cocteau assumed that everyday reality was too boring to suffer and he offered us pure art as a door to pure consciousness -- if we make wonderland, we can live there. you're offering a lot of cute side dishes, in this buffet, but the only real meal you have for us is 'let's pretend that we're pretending'... it art -- in making the dream which is not in nature -- we just jump in and lose ourselves in magic. your dream is just a garage with a buffet you can hide in when you don't feel like watching t.v.

what's really obvious to me is that the people who hate arty people and art-for-art's sake most are the people who live in a totally artificial and unconscious dream-space all the time -- talking about walking in 'dream-time', they never get to walk out of 'being asleep' at all.

O come let my dreams be as word, softly spoken
where all of those doors, they be open to see.
I float in your room with love’s only token
would you ever wish, take those dreams from me.

O the night it cast shadows, which I had forgotten
yet your presence is real, it beckons me near.
Why should I pretend that it is an allusion
when I can see now, what may nere re-appear.

I never knew those friends who grew around me
were those self same friends that remaining few.
Were so ready to abandon belief I held as true.
That love and friendship is a splendiferous thing
and from those echoes of those thoughts which ring
could I, those self same thoughts a truer sense it bring.
