These Tears Are Fireworks
dmartin

These eyes, a midnight blue
 1
and missing stars,
 2
but every tear brings a smile to your face,
 3
while all I have on my mind
 4
are luke-warm July nights,
 5
soft kisses captured by flickering lights.
 6
My tears drip down my face,
 7
like fireworks race to the heavens.
 8

The fuse is lit,
 9
and in seconds its another year,
 10
another comfortable mid-summer night.
 11
When I turn around to see an illuminated sky,
 12
my heart explodes, you and him, there,
 13
my replacement in this sequal to last summer.
 14
All the color falls from the sky,
 15
my heavy heart brings me to my knees.
 16

Everyone watching the sky while I try to keep from drowning...

Emo'd to death. The only line that's really worth salvaging is line 14 -- and if you took this and played it off that central metaphor, you'd have a decent poem.
