Secret Conflagration
Isabelle5

Must have been lust
 1
because this fire
 2
is already
 3
dying,
 4
burned to ashes
 5
that stick to my shoes
 6
each time I leave your bed.
 7

It could have been love
 8
but I don’t want to
 9
linger long enough
 10
to discover
 11
what makes you
 12
burn for me.
 13

Throw another log
 14
on this fire,
 15
roast me like
 16
a marshmallow
 17
until I’m soft and charred,
 18
my center raw and sweet.
 19

In the morning,
 20
I’ll take a bucket,
 21
douse you cold and clean,
 22

brush my feet free of
 23
evidence,
 24
till only me and Smokey
 25
know of secret conflagrations
 26
which smouldered and died
 27
in the forests of time.

Oh - I like!

To lust or to love - that is the question.
Lust - that is the answer (harder on the body, but easier on the heart).

delicious every moment, til
line 27 and "sands of time"
everything else fresh and fiery
 — Bloodfetish

How about ashes of time?  I'll think about this but I agree, now that you point it out.  Thanks.
 — Isabelle5

I mean Unknown....
 — Isabelle5

Smokey and I.

And how about for 26/27: "know secret conflagrations/smolder in forests of time"?

Cold and clean... indeed!  Very sensual.  Love the ashes on your feet concept.

Isabelle, why unknown?  This is so you--(probably) the most sensual poet on this site.  Your writing actually stirred the memories that inspired my most recent post.
 — housepoppy

Housepoppy, I think you found the magic words.  Thanks.  I like to be Unknown sometimes.  Fun to wear the cloak of invisibility, hahaha

Well, it's always a shocker when I see something of mine come from the depths and get nice comments.

Thank you all so much.
