| Beach Air at Midnight
|
Isabelle5
| He rose at midnight, waking me. | 1 |
I watched him dress, | 2 |
reading subtle cues | 3 |
that it was time | 4 |
for me to go. | 5 |
Turned aside his offer | 6 |
to walk me to my car | 7 |
but let him hold me | 8 |
tightly for a moment of farewell. | 9 |
| |
I didn't stop to put on | 10 |
my strappy heels, | 11 |
carried them and warming lotion | 12 |
in my hands, | 13 |
stepping barefooted | 14 |
on cool damp pavement, | 15 |
the tang of salt air | 16 |
whispering curls | 17 |
into my hair. | 18 |
| |
Driving home, | 19 |
I realized that life | 20 |
is always mixed | 21 |
this way for me - | 22 |
love and loss | 23 |
given gently | 24 |
in the same | 25 |
warm and somehow | 26 |
treacherous embrace. | 27 |

Warming lotion makes you sound, to put it frankly, like a slut. Nice poem though, and maybe thats just my opinion. — Cloudless
okay ... i'm blushing ... very good, very sensual
very much a pleasant memory — Bloodfetish
What's wrong with using warming oil with your lover?? It tastes rather good and sex should be fun and inventive! — unknown
oh my. you made my pluck-head blog cloudless. well done. no one's made it in there for days, weeks, no months! not since shelby and inyourblood last made it in there.

Beautiful, melancholy, but not bitterly so. I slipped so easily into this scene and, now, I'm missing the ocean (among other things). — boothben
Great poem with for me the sinister undertones of one who may some day explode.
