spaces

can you define "need"

as the space between us?

as the lump:

   caught or lodged

   or resting

in my worn
 6
   and wretched throat?

i suppose it lessens

the abcess to name it...

   if i hang a bell around

   my misery and the

   negative space you've

   left in bed and heart,

can it calm

the fevered shaking

  of this sickened flesh?
