Motherhood by a Slightly Open Window
Isabelle5

The milk in her tea swirled
 1
lusciously in lazy circles of crème and tan,
 2
the silver of the spoon echoing
 3
the silver ring on her slender finger.
 4

The curtains shuddered in a crisp
 5
white-lace Winter exhalation,
 6
bending backs of pines
 7
heavy with shawls of snow,
 8
causing tiny sparks to hiss and fly.
 9

Her baby nuzzled against rich crimson velvet,
 10
clever hidden panel opening for her tiny pink lips;
 11
she opened her mouth,
 12

suckling pink
 13
and crème
 14
and tan
 15
as the milk swirled.

This is very descriptive - there is so much in this - I like. Line 5 and 6 are really good. Interesting idea.

I'm trying to convey the connections that the baby and mother have through color (pink skin, creme of the milk and the best, tan tea and aureole).  The lovely bond that is a circle swirling through life.

Oh, the other poet's poem?  Yes, it's so funny!  I thought guffaw fits the ending he put to it.

I should have known...sorry Isabelle, I was just reading random poems and as soon as I got to this your name whispered in my head. As I started reading the comments, the voice in my head was confirmed. I know this isn't very new but this is amazing as always. If I may be so bold, you have a fan.
