| V is for Victory
|
bear
| Trench warfare | 1 |
Screaming, crying, singing. | 2 |
Crawling through the | 3 |
mud, | 4 |
muck, | 5 |
and blood. | 6 |
An invisable gas | 7 |
could kill me right now. | 8 |
| |
V is for Peace. | 9 |
| |
Another war | 10 |
same continent. | 11 |
New technology | 12 |
more ways to die. | 13 |
Out of the fields, | 14 |
into the cities. | 15 |
More and more lost | 16 |
lives and mangled bones. | 17 |
| |
V is for Peace. | 18 |
| |
1950's and the reds | 19 |
are scaring Joe. | 20 |
This was forgotten | 21 |
by the people, | 22 |
it was different. | 23 |
But still men died. | 24 |
| |
V is for Peace. | 25 |
| |
Here we go | 26 |
another war | 27 |
to kill the yellow man. | 28 |
No glory, no one is proud. | 29 |
Just men dying | 30 |
and crying. | 31 |
| |
V is for Peace. | 32 |
| |
Flashback: | 33 |
Fat man | 34 |
and | 35 |
Little Boy | 36 |
don't fuck with them. | 37 |
they killed millions. | 38 |
| |
V is for Victory! | 39 |
| |
One more time. | 40 |
bombs over bahgdad. | 41 |
so impersonal. | 42 |
But we showed those | 43 |
dirty sand niggers. | 44 |
| |
V IS FOR VICTORY! | 45 |
| |
fuck peace. | 46 |

ach, could be better. First, drop "fuck peace." stop right at line 45. Please stop there. Using "fuck" to bring closure to a poem, to bring a sense of force and finality doesn't work very well. Second, those little taglines that break from the poem flesh seem to destroy the whole thing. You could have just written that and forgotten the poem. In line 23, it's "different", not "differant". Flesh it out a little more. It's a good idea, just needs a little work. — Doulos
So good. DON'T YOU DARE DROP 'FUCK PEACE'! It makes the poem, and brings humour. Doulos is just a kill joy with no taste for real poetry. — winter
take the time to read some good war poetry. sasoon or owen would be a nice start. Other than that, I'd rather not comment. thanks for the post though! — Trish77
I know the emotion.. we can't stop war so we may as well win it. Well expressed in good humour. You can't put sense where there is none so do your own thing. — gingerdave
thanks all for your comments, i'm thinking about changing it a bit, we'll see — bear
V for Vendetta. — unknown
i wrote this before that movie came out. i was refering to the sixties counterculture when they would hold up two fingers making a v, symbolizing peace when it really would symbolize victory. — bear
