I don't think Bukowski really wanted to be dead, so the poem is a turn off.
Considering he got his writing career pretty late into his life, he was getting a lot more credit for it then than he is now.
Accepting death does not mean he wanted to die, it simply means, that he, as a lot of people are, was okay with the idea of.
