(as if by Mark Twain)

From the City to the Country
August ends
the sultry season
so long upon us.
It does not seem fair that
when a man packed off from work
and with his bags and wife in tow
he also had to haul her mother.
Thoughts upon this subject? I have
none, really, imprudent if I did.

Mr. Twain does not need backpacks.  Instead he asks you to pick up Atlantic Magazine for his latest serial installment and to help to fix his leaky roof,
same thing.
