black widow

caught her climbing up between my legs while fishing
put her in a tackle box and then a bigger plastic cage
freed her in the rabbit hutch with an immaculate egg
i'd drop him into her seemingly disheveled net
she'd come onto him a flurry of hind legs and silk
avoid his mandibles and deliver
a split second snip into his soft belly
she'd knit him into a neat little package
and in the same exact location, same place every time
drop his carcass
she was an exceptional housekeeper

Ha! The last line is perfect.
And any poem with the word "mandible" in it
gets at least an 8 from me.
