those 'sleepers' sweating creosote
an old farmer pitting gassy teeth
against invasive weed
slathers a flipped timber

Good sonics. Just a thought: I read lather as "leather," probably b/o sleeper in the next line.

I'm getting "lather" correctly, but stumbling over "gassy teeth" on each read. Instead, I want to ready "grassy" and see this farmer with a mouthful of green teeth.
