A Song on Every Lawn

i. Genesis
The blue grass sings
Spring springs early
Buds burst and bloom
A bird on every bough
II. The Gods of Summer
The July days blaze
Summer trumpets on
With its gladiator sun
And a suit of green and gold
III. Autumn's Anthem
Fall falls soon
Trees shiver and deliver
Showers of leaves
Bleed red and bronze.
IV. Winter's Bone
And now a formal solstice
Tree limbs etched black
Against the pallid sky
Full circle to chilly December
V. Birds
The screech of the crow
and the trill of the lark
Chirp exaltation
A song on every lawn
