i know how trees topple walls

they do it while youngish using the wind
while they're flexible
if a tree grows next to a wall
even a very solid one
it will be beaten against it, and toughen
it will be toughened by the wall by the wind
instead of growing away it will;
eventually stop tap tap tapping or
nudge nudge nudging or bang bang
banging against the stones and grow into them
grind them, consume them,
or more likely
the tree and the wind will have already battered the wall down sometime in its
late teens before any of that other stuff ever takes place
