Burial Ground

Assumed futures loom above scaffolding
funnelled from cold earth.
Bolted poles perch over vanishing points.
Horizon, forensically measured, smeared with steel,
rises behind bulldozed ground
Workman, helmeted, bullish,
clutches skull, cursing inconvenience.
Neanderthal, or decades ago murder?
Uncertain? No delays, throws it away
History and justice betrayed?
Missing link stowed below towering blocks
that will pass as new age living.
Like all before, equally unforgiving.
