dawn of your winter

my heart is a candle
alight with the fire
of your bipolar love
it’s brightest on your darkest nights,
wax dripping
on your delicate skin
my heart flickers
from the gentle breeze
of your northern wind
flame dies
by bitter tongue
with your primal need
to hibernate
you pry each rib
from my juniper sternum
and sleep in the hollow
of my catacomb chest
