Get me a ring  she says

one that dazzles,

blinds audiences and

is the envy

of every needy princess.

One that is indestructible

to time or decay, more radiant

than an angel's halo.

An ornament that is so

eternally extravagant

it makes every woman

reexamine her own finger.

A crown fit for only one phalanx

that will force you

to near bankruptcy or regret,

constricts

any temptation

or infidelity

like a noose.
