Edge Of Sleep
larrylark

That final elusive thought,
 1
caught in those moments before sleep
 2
leaves no clue,
 3
as light filters through shades of what remains

of the day.

 8
into the subdued glow of a bedside radio light.
 9
The shipping forecast has merged
 10
into a final bulletin from the world,
 11
and it never seems right out there.
 12

I swear I heard a distant cry.
 13
Or maybe just a lullaby.
 14
Both dismissed
