Nemesis Clouds (The Sphinx in the Mirror)

And then I notice
He’s out of the mirror,
And then I notice his virulent clouds,
And then I marvel how scenes
Once bathed in edifying light
And filled with silent mystery are gone!
Replaced by shrieks
And shattering rounds—
Replaced by “acts” one never lives down;
O look how he squats there
And mocks me in dreams
And swallows me in nemesis clouds!
